The Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre is home to lovers of fine dining, luxurious accommodation and entertainment. The Ekurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz Evening is an event that celebrates the love for music and comedy. This year’s line-up is a mixture of young and old showcasing amazing talent. The combination of various artists is a reflection of our musical gifts and growth in the South African music industry. The sultry singing song bird, Nia Pearl will be the opening act. She’s no stranger to the world of music having graced the stage at the Soweto Hotel’s monthly Sensational Sundays last year.
Following act will be the dazzling Afro’traction who will serenade the audience with an amazing set. Afro’traction is well known for hits such as ‘Ngimtholile’ and ‘Soulfully Yours’ to name a few. His talent is a reflection of his journey in the music industry, from playing bass for HHP to producing his own unique blend of music; he is a force to be reckoned with.
Tyson Ngubeni, a local comedian from Rhodes University is well known for his appearance in the Comedy Central Africa’s Live at the Box where he was a finalist. The legendary and renowned Stimela together with his Afro-fusion band will once again bless the audience with his timeless hits. Discovered by the incredible vocalist Ray Phiri in the 70s with songs such as ‘Where Did We Go Wrong’ and ‘Whispers in the Deep’ are just some of the historic songs which resonate with many South Africans.
